Inconel is a Special Metals Corporation registered trademark, which refers to various metal alloys. The brand is used as a prefix to designate about 25 alloys, the most common references being Inconel 600, Inconel 625 (NiCr22Mo9Nb), and Inconel 718 (NiCr19Fe19Nb5Mo3).
It is considered to be part of the super-alloy range in industrial metallurgy.
Unlike stainless steels, which are nickel and chrome iron-based metals, some varieties of Inconel are chrome and iron nickel-based (e.g: Inconel 625).
Its secondary alloy metals are niobium, manganese and molybdenum.
Generally-speaking, Inconel displays the same benefits as stainless steel, in comparison to high-carbon steels. It is also clear that Inconel is more expensive and one should consider the life time and the cost efficiency of the application for which it is aimed. Hence its use in nuclear plants.
Inconel alloys are often used in the aeronautical field and more particularly for parts in the hottest areas of jet engines.
We can supply Inconel 600, Inconel 718 coils, on request. Please contact us for any other Inconel alloys.
Inconel 600 and Inconel 718 sheets are also available on request.
